How to calculate a course handicap

Your Handicap Index travels with you, but the number of strokes you receive depends on the course. The formula multiplies your index by the slope rating divided by 113, then adds the difference between course rating and par.

Example: index 12.4, slope 128, rating 71.2, par 72. Course handicap = 12.4 x (128 / 113) + (71.2 - 72) = 14.05 - 0.8 = 13.25, which rounds to 13.
