The Easiest Golf Putting Drill Ever

So you’re trying to break 80, you’ve tracked your shots and you realised you could do better on the green? Luckily this is one of the easiest things to fix. This post will show you the easiest golf putting drill ever! Grab your putter and follow along.

There are 2 things that need to happen to make the perfect putt. First the ball needs to go in the right direction towards the cup. This means you need to practise your aim and make sure your club face is straight when you make contact with the ball. Second the ball needs to travel the proper distance. This is the most important of the two.

Your time will be better spent practising on distance control. If your aim is half decent and your speed control is really good then you will never need more than 2 putts. The other really important aspect is confidence. This is why you won’t be trying to get your ball in the hole, your objective is to improve your distance control and you don’t want to get discouraged every time the ball doesn’t fall in the hole.

For this drill you will need 4 things. A golf green, a putter, golf balls and a golf ball marker. Find a flat spot on the green and place your marker on the ground. Start easy, stand 2-3 feet away from the marker and start hitting balls! Aim for the marker but make sure the ball stops within a foot or two passed the marker. If the ball doesn’t reach the marker it’s like not reaching the hole which means you would have had no chance of making the putt.

Once you’re comfortable and making every shot, back up a few feet and try again. As you get further from the marker this will get harder and harder. Once you get good at it you can use multiple markers at 10 feet intervals and alternate your target every shot.

This might be the easiest putting drill ever but don’t be fooled by its simplicity. It’s one of the fastest ways to improve your golf game!
